Best Boxing Day Ever

By joncim

This year, I didn’t care so much for Christmas. Even less than normal. We did convince our parents and youngest siblings to visit us, and we all with a couple of friends, celebrated X-mas eve together. I even got a compliment on keeping the kitchen clean as I was going along, “really being on his game.” Yeah, finally after not being a cook for more than four years I finally learn “clean as you go.” And they say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.

But Boxing Day was what I was really excited about because…

…today we got to go to the OB/GYN for the first official* visit.

The ultrasound was a bit better today…well, kinda. I still can’t really tell what is in there. Sometimes I feel the ultrasound is kinda like Doppler radar. Other times I feel it is a Rorschach Test.

If Rorschach then I swear I saw one of my babies wearing RayBan sunglasses today.

We did see them squirming around. I suspect it is because they had to get back to the over & under position, but there seems to be a bit of disagreement to whom is Ünter and whom is Über.

And naturally, after we had to go get half price chocolates at the store. Fortunately, they didn’t have the chocolate-coated marshmallow Santas. Must be one of the weird sympathy cravings that I’m getting with my wife’s pregnancy.

But we did some baby clothes shopping. I picked out a cute little six-pack of socks. Just imagine all the mismatch combinations. For some reason, my better half doesn’t think the socks should be mismatched. But I say, they are my babies too, and I should be allowed to dress their feet. That’s all I’m asking for. She can pick out their clothes from the ankles up.

And why is it so difficult to find gender-neutral clothing?

*we went last week because of some spotting and we are paranoid. But, I suspect one of the best things we are paying for from our medical team is peace of mind. That’s why they get the big bucks, to say to us “don’t worry, everything is fine.”

I think getting to dress the feet is a reasonable concession, especially since Yakisoba is not on the table for name choices. :)

I’m glad to hear that babies are healthy and squirming around.

Sure! The babies have to have some fashion sense from their daddy!

  3. Heather Says:

Stop encouraging him! The babies will not have mismatching socks! They can decide later in their life if they want to be as silly as their papa!

  4. Pam Says:

Oh come on. Nothing is wrong with mismatched socks.Nobody has to know that their socks don’t match.

mismatched socks remind me of punky brewster and if you had two of those running around that would be sweet!!!!
we’ll get them some tie dyed onsies and they’ll be good to go!!!

Someone named “Pam” thinks mismatched socks are OK.
….hmmmm…I wonder if I can get my better half to listen to this “Pam”
