Here’s the background…

Ms Squeaky, is pretty good about wearing underwear during the day, she’ll go pee, accidents are rare. But when she has to poo, then she asks for a pull-up. She knows when she needs to poo, just refuses to do it in the toilet.  Once in her pullup, she’ll find someplace private.

Mr Grunty will sit on the potty, and sometimes pee, but sometimes he forgets when he’s wearing underwear, and we’ll hear him screaming in horror “my pants are wet!” If he’s wearing a pullup, and needs to poo, he’ll just crouch down where ever he’s at.

There are a b’jillion potty-training methods. And I suspect that a “this method works after all the others failed” simply worked because the child was ready. I asked for advice from our pediatrician, last week, and she advised, “make it a positive experience, let them have the choice, be calm when accidents happen. Potty training, we consider for pee, before 4 years, and poo, before 5 years to be normal.”

We are staying home these three days, and no more pullups for MrG and MsS. Every 50 minutes, MrG is sitting on the potty. We are encouraging MsS often.

Mr G is cute, he knows, “when you flush the toilet, the poo goes under the house, and then it goes in the pipes”

Ms S tells us everyday, “I’m a big girl, I go pee & poo on the potty.”

And so…we have 4 pages on the bathroom door, one for me, MyBetterHalf, and the twins…if we get 10 stickers we get to get a book at Costco. The adults only get stickers if we poo, and yes, we are showing the childrens when we poo, and clapping, and getting a sticker.
