Fiddler on the Roof

24 January, 2013

The other evening, I went with my good friend KellyKelly to see “Fiddler on the Roof”.

I have loved the intro violin line since I first heard, sometime back in the 80s. I would make a point to watch the movie when it was on, and one of my favorite Jr High orchestra concerts was when we performed highlights of it.

I’m certain that because of Tevye that I have my childrens call me “Papa”.  I like him, I like how he talks to God as one would talk to a friend. I like that when facing tough questions, he sees “on one hand…but on the other hand” with humility, wisdom and humor. I like how he realizes the world is changing, doesn’t necessarily like it, but tries to accept and adapt, “…weren’t our traditions once new?”.

And yes, I still cried during “Sunrise, Sunset”.
