Hebrew poetry

so…this morning I learned in Church, and forgive me if I’m wrong, or misunderstood, and any mistakes are totally my fault…

In Hebrew poetry, it is not about pairs of rhyming sounds, but instead about matching pairs of sentences where the second sentence either mimics or is opposite of the first.

For example:

  • The Lord is my Shepard
  • I shall not want

  • God called the dry ground “land”
  • God called the waters “sea”

Yep. Psalms, Job, Isaiah … Hebrew poetry found in these and more as well. 🙂
